While many went decided to chill at the Wonderfruit Festival in Pattaya (see opposite page), others flocked to Impact Arena for Star Theque -- GTH's 11th anniversary concert. Some opted to avoid the traffic altogether and spent their night watching The Face Thailand Season 2 and Hormones 3 The Final Season's finale at home.

» While the interest and market for gay-themed stories continue to grow -- on online channels, on television series and in cinemas -- the sub-genre of lesbian movies has still got some catching up to do, especially in Thailand. Once in a blue moon, a lesbian film would drop on our cinema or TV screens, and the ones that had an actual cultural impact can be counted on one hand. At last week's LGBT Film Festival, which saw an enthusiastic turnout, there was then just one lesbian film among a dozen gay-themed international titles. All of this seems to signify that truly fair representation of gender and sexuality in the media still has quite a way to go.

In a green dress -- and wearing a glittering crown -- Trixie Maristela, 29, led the way for the trio. She recently won the Miss International Queen 2015 beauty pageant.

Quick financial fix

» Inside an air-conditioned room, a man with a grim face sat behind a tall counter with a metal barrier separating him from incoming clients. Suddenly, someone approaches him with a piece of jewellery in hand. After inspecting the item, the man names his price. After a negotiation, a contract is then signed as a promise for the client to pay back his loan plus interest and reclaim the item. Then, the client walks out with a handful of cash. The entire process lasts only a few minutes.
