» World Beat was at the Korat Festival recently to check out the activities based around paying homage to the Thao Suranari Monument, or Ya Mo, as it is known locally. Korat, or Nakhon Ratchasima, is often thought of as the gateway to Isan, the northeastern region of the country.

» The annual Jim Thompson Farm Tour took place last weekend, kicking off with a Fun Run at the farm site in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima. Runners of all ages and skill level, from kids to serious joggers, lined up on the starting line at six in the morning to compete on one of the three circuits that ranged from a gentle 1.5km jog to a more serious 17km race.

» The idyllic rural setting of Jim Thompson's Farm in Pak Thong Chai in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima was the venue for a battle of the bands on Dec 23. The Sud Sanan Dan Isan contest featured 12 molam teams from secondary schools and colleges across Isan, all vying for glory.
