Ordering a MacBook Pro; and Affinity Pro for Windows
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 16/11/2016
» Reporting on Apple is sometimes perverse. Only a few hours after last week's eXtensions column, Apple opened the doors on its Thai site and the MacBook Pro went on sale here. Although the US site still showed delays of four-to-five weeks, the time was two-to-three weeks for those ordering here.

» One of my favourite apps released in the last couple of years is Affinity Photo: a full-featured graphics editing program for the Mac aimed at home users who need something more than basic tools, but who may not want to use Adobe Photoshop because of pricing models.

Looking forward to WWDC in June
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 18/05/2016
» To read some of the press in the last few days, one would think that Apple is about to go bust. Again. Display rumours were exciting; a new iPhone shape was expected. Tonality: A bright solution
Life, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 13/08/2014
» I use Aperture on my Macs for several tasks connected with photography, but with the announced end of development for the application, many users are expected to move to Adobe's Lightroom, another workflow application popular among photographers. Like Aperture, it helps organise images as they are imported and allows a certain amount of editing.

If you need to get iLife, don't do it by mail
Database, Graham K. Rogers, Published on 10/11/2010
» I thought I had been smart by ordering iLife online as there were no copies in the shops, but I watched the online tracking as it remained at the airport for several days: Clearance delay. I checked with DHL on Thursday and was told that this was due to Customs. I think she meant with a large "C". I made a final check on Friday evening. I look forward to Apple's online software facility and downloading directly: no disks; no frustrating waits.
