    Breaking bad news

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 27/01/2017

» Now that 2016 is finally over, we can rest assured that all the bull**** and f**kery it brought with it will never be repeated. Right? RIGHT?! Bleh, who knows what the future has in store for us. Let's face it, this time last year the thought of Trump becoming the 45th President of the United States probably made you spit out your coffee or, if you're a hipster, choke on your kale juice. But then again, never say never, right?

    The spaces between us

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 07/04/2017

» No doubt, Bangkok has its fair share of issues that hover over the urban landscape. From developers chasing out communities to make way for even more condominiums to the lack of greenery -- and don't get us started on the state of footpaths and the Jackson Pollock-inspired electrical wires we have proudly exhibiting all around town -- there's clearly a lot for our eyes to take in.

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 25/11/2016

» Like that ice cream pandemic Bangkok was hit by a couple of years ago, the City of Angels now just can't seem to get enough of frozen yoghurt. With new stalls popping up everywhere and renowned brands planning for further expansion, Bangkokians can pretty much now get their froyo fix from every corner of the city.

    The Levantine resurrection

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 30/10/2015

» Nomads, jet-setters, backpackers and anyone else who’s ever written, “Travelling is one of my biggest passions” on their CVs (yes, guilty as charged) have one thing in common. We have our once-in-a-lifetime trip perfectly planned, and can probably recite the whole itinerary and list of attractions backwards, if need be. Whether it’s horseback riding along the Silk Road, driving the US coast-to-coast, rafting down the Mekong River or, in my case, sailing across the Mediterranean Sea and hummus tasting. This, regardless of the fact that my knot-tying knowledge doesn’t exceed those on my trainers. But hey, we all have dreams.

    Bothersome Bangkok

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 11/09/2015

» Bangkokians’ got 99 problems -- and we’re still counting. Sure, there are perks, such as having the safety net of motosai drivers when we’re running super late, a 7-Eleven at every street corner so we’ll never starve to death -- even the persistence of luxury malls, which keep popping up so we’ll never be without brands at which to throw our hard-earned cash. But the reality is us city-dwellers don’t always have it as easy as others might think. Bangkok is a tough city to live in, but know this, Dear Readers, you are never alone -- all 6.3 million of us have, on more than one occasion, also found ourselves in these face-palm-worthy situations. Forget first-world problems, here are 10 common struggles Bangkokians regularly face.

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 21/11/2014

» Supaprat “Ping-Pong” Panyarachun is a voice-over artist based in Bangkok (fb.com/pingvoiceoverbkk). After stumbling upon his career by chance, his voice has been featured in many TV and radio adverts we hear today. Much like job interviews, voice-over artists have to audition and pitch to each brand before getting selected. He tells us what it’s like to star as the voice of multi-million-baht commercials.

    Truth be told

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 21/11/2014

» As Thailand prepares for yet another crackdown, it’s the false adverts this time that are on the chopping block. We’re proud supporters of the big clean-up regime — especially this one that involves the removal of (not so) little white lies that assume we’re all idiots and want ridiculous products like an armpit whitener.

    Insta-preneur

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 29/08/2014

» Two years ago, Nachapol “Nach” Triwongwaranat co-founded Instaprinta (www.instaprinta.me, fb.com/instaprintame), which has become a household name. Known for providing an exciting live Instagram printing experience for weddings and parties, the service enables attendees to go home with their very own Instagram photo printouts from the event. From programming and configuring the printers to marketing and approaching event agencies, the 26-year-old has now expanded Instaprinta to Singapore and Malaysia. But despite the seemingly primrose path ahead, this young entrepreneur isn’t ready to kick back and relax (just yet).
