Winged migration

» On a raised wooden platform on Khao Dinso, a 350m-high hill along a coastline of the Gulf of Thailand in Chumphon province, a group of international birdwatchers are waiting to see raptor migration since dawn's break. Every year about a million birds migrate during autumn from cold lands in Russia or China, passing Khao Dinso in Thailand to the tropical islands of Indonesia to find food.

» The road leading to Ban Neon Kum in Bang Krathum district in Phitsanulok is quiet. Along the road are farmlands consisting mostly of banana plantations. For more than a century, locals in Bang Krathum have grown the fruit for producing sun-dried bananas -- known as kluay tak in Thai. Kluay tak is a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bang Krathum. About 4,000 tonnes of kluay tak are produced yearly.

» When he was young, Therdsak Yenjura always walked a hiking trail from the foothills of Doi Suthep to visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. The route, which took him a couple of hours, passed Wat Pha Lat, a forest monastery located about halfway to the destination. He sometimes made a stop to pay respect to old Buddha images housed in a ruined concrete structure of the temple.
