    Phuket's hidden pearl

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 09/05/2019

» During one of last year's downhill mountain biking competitions, there was a new team participating. The group was made up of skilled riders I had never met before. They were from Phuket. I must admit I wasn't aware that the Pearl of the Andaman is home to an active community of downhillers. Where's their training ground?

    The hills are alive

B Magazine, Gary Boyle, Published on 16/06/2019

» Lisbon's hills are no joke. The city is built on seven of them, and a vigorous uphill stroll often sees you rounding a corner only to be faced with another, steeper climb. However, to get away from the tourists (the irony doesn't fail me either) I often choose the furthest tip of the island. » The beach of Laem Pho in Surat Thani's Chaiya district is long and peaceful. The day we visited, there were only a handful of tourists. Also visiting were teams of archaeologists. But they weren't there to take in the sea breeze. They were investigating an ancient maritime cross-cultural trade route, which dates as far back as the 7th century.

    Return to Prasae River

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 23/05/2019

» It was early in the afternoon. The Sun was high in the sky, blasting down rays so scorching as if they were meant to kill. But in the winding narrow river along which our boat was leisurely cruising, the ambience was pleasant, thanks to the light yet refreshing breeze, and the thick greenery along both banks that provided comfortable shade.
