Nice and Nordic

Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 17/06/2016

» Why have a kitchen when you have Rocket Coffeebar? We could spend an entire day walking in and out of the S49 branch, or any of the branches in fact. Early breakfast? Brunch? Lunch? Daytime cocktails? Coffee? Smoothies? Dinner? Wine? Anything and everything you could ask for using as much locally sourced and quality ingredients as possible. And it comes wrapped up in this meet and eat culture that just overall adds more colour to life. We're getting a bit too sentimental now.

» In case you didn't know, there are 197 countries in the world. And Johnny Ward has now visited 193 of them. Boarding for Banh mi

Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 20/05/2016

» We adore Vietnamese food and there never seem to be enough restaurants in this city offering this glorious cuisine; seriously, there are more Vietnamese eateries in Shoreditch than there are in the whole of Bangkok. And why don't we have a Viet Town?

The two-day getaway

Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 13/05/2016

» Confession: nowadays, I get anxious when it comes to taking holidays. They've become so hi-so, and if they're not luxury-laden then they're not worth taking, apparently. You end up spending more time appearing to enjoy yourself in your photos than actually enjoying yourself. And usually you end up experiencing the exact opposite of what you intended: rest and relaxation. Hah -- more like mess and frustration!

All about that jazz and glitter

Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 29/04/2016

» The second volume of The Iron Faries' fairytale is upon us. We all know how much of an impact the first bar and restaurant had on Bangkok's nightlife; Thong Lor has never been the same. The Iron Fairies Dragonfly at Central Eastville is definitely going to be another game changer, methinks. It may seem far out but hey, there's more to Bangkok than Thong Lor.

Dressed for smoothies

Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 22/04/2016

» The quickest way to a woman's heart is via a good smoothie. OK, fine, that's the quickest way to my heart. But, why not? A smoothie is a bundle of goodness and love served up nice and simple in a cup. It doesn't make you feel guilty, it doesn't make you fat and because it's dense in nutrients, it keeps you fuller for longer. Talk about a recipe for love.

Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 22/04/2016

» Just last month, after a long week of challenging race conditions in Abu Dhabi, Kamolwan "Bam" Chanyim achieved her dream of becoming the first Thai woman to qualify for the Olympics sailing competition. Hers, a Laser Radial, was similar to what His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej used to sail. Inspired by our 20-year-old national athlete, Guru sat down with Bam to find out more about the young lady who made a momentous imprint on Thai sailing history.
