Bonjour, Loubi World!

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 30/10/2020

» For the first time ever, heel fanatics will be able to buy themselves a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes for approximately 62 baht. That's a crazy good deal, considering how a pair of shoes from this luxury high-end brand should set you back no less than 20,000 baht. The catch, however, is that all this must be done (and worn) in the Korea-based gaming application Zepeto.

» Central Embassy has worn many faces. Its positioning has shuffled around from ultra-luxury to hipster to a lifestyle hub, but one thing's for sure. When they've reeled in a world-class model like Kiko Mizuhara as the face of their ad campaign, there's no doubt that it strives to be a world-class destination.

New looks, old values

» 'Whatchu lookin' at?" Rattanarat "Ploy" Aurthaveekul might have yelled back to her husband's stare before they leave the house. Her taunting look is, however, followed by a sheepish chuckle, before she adds: "Gosh, this outfit is actually really uncomfortable and kind of revealing too. I guess I should go change." Gone are her fashionably freewheeling days -- her closet now tipping more mother than model. But that's about the most that has changed for this style icon, best known as one half of the modelling/actress twins Petch-Ploy.

Puttin' on the T

» Gone are the wooden cart and seaside vibes of Vick's Weekend. That spacious corner, the equivalent of real estate gold in Qurator, the Thai designer fashion zone in EmQuartier, has now made way for another label. Alongside other big houses like Asava, Disaya and Vickteerut, you'll now be greeted with TandT -- the brainchild of Thanawut Thanasarnvimon. It's a big season for this brand that is best known for their rebellious mixture of semi-couture and street wear. Not only is their latest collaboration with Double Goose T-shirts a hit with the fashion cognoscenti, but TandT has also been the latest to join Bangkok Fashion Society this spring -- a milestone most established houses must have tacked on their wall at one point or another. With a small member list that rarely exceeds 15 names, it is undoubtedly the most exclusive club that serves as the governing body and platform for their Thai labels to grow through connections and collaborations.

Looking cool when it's hot

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 01/04/2017

» What's hot from the Bangkok Fashion Society this spring/summer? First off, the season welcomes three new members to its exclusive fashion club: ASV, Patinya, and T and T. And it's about time, too, as these three labels are definitely up there with strikingly clear personalities -- making clothes that any society little miss, uber-feminine lady or cool kid would appreciate. That's not to say those outside the BFS umbrella aren't special, but many times it's this core group that's sought after by department stores to create the most-coveted limited-edition pieces or special projects. It also means that when this gang does cool shows, like the one presented at Siam Paragon last night, "The Spirit Of Thai Designers", you get to see your favourite brand come up with designs besides what's in stores.

Beyond basics

» The irony of basic clothes is they are extremely difficult to design despite a seemingly simplistic cut. If coming from the higher spectrum of fashion with a steeper price tag, it most definitely must transcend the typical to offer more than what the naked eye can see. A handful of basic authorities are elevating their designs to up their game and giving their starry-eyed fans something to get excited about. We turn the spotlight to Calvin Klein, Uniqlo and Theory to dissect their upcoming plans and current collections.

Disney for days

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 06/08/2016

» Two American things Thais really like come together this season. As one of the exclusive projects that celebrate American pop culture and to commemorate Coach's 75th anniversary, the house of leather joins hands with the House of Mouse to create limited-edition bags that play canvas to the world's most famous mouse. With sketches created by Disney's animators, Mickey Mouse sits on the signature glove-tanned leather of totes, bag packs, wallets and messenger bags. Like the previous Peanuts collection, the embossed character at the bottom of the bag is a bit of a blink-and-you'll-miss decoration, but this time, there are bold hang-tags in the shape of Mickey's gloves and face also. If you'd rather proclaim your love more loudly, some bags have the actual Mickey Mouse ear sprouting out from body, which can be spotted a mile away, be it in black or the very red of Mickey's two-buttoned pants. Find the Disney x Coach collection at Coach stores in CentralWorld, The EmQuartier and Siam Paragon.
