» The accessory du jour was the fluffy pink boa. The colour scheme was hot pink -- pink pants, pink boots, pink cowboy hats, pink eyeshadow, pink hijabs. Or if not pink, then anything in the tooth-aching shades of the rainbow. It was a lively, joyous sight on Saturday night, a show of hot-hue aesthetics in a defiant contrast to the brutalist concrete skeleton of Rajamangala Stadium. How I wish concrete-mad Bangkok could look like this every day!

» It's a sad twist of fate that as quarantine restrictions have lifted, the rainy season is upon us. There may be many who want to get out and about, perhaps even the introverts like me may want just a tiny bit of socialising. But don't let the rain dampen your mood. » Travelling over 3,000km in a car isn't that impressive. Travelling over 3,000km in an auto rickshaw, however, is something else entirely. This was exactly what the TT Ladies did. The three young women from Thailand — Bom Plengpanich, Aei Jinapuck and Helen Stettler — travelled to India to take part in The Rickshaw Run to raise awareness for domestic abuse in Thailand. The entire journey was filmed by the ladies themselves. The first two episodes are already online, with six more to be released. Guru was able to sit down with one of its members, Thai-Swiss Helen Stettler, to find out more about the experience.

» When the news broke late last year that TrueVisions -- the largest cable TV service provider in Thailand -- would be cutting off six film and television series channels from their line-up beginning this year, a swathe of the network's subscribers were left in doubt as to the necessity of actually owning a cable TV subscription. After all, with online platforms like Netflix, Iflix, YouTube and even Facebook giving us the ability to access our preferred media content at any place or time of our choosing, many consumers are now given more choices in how they can consume media content than ever before.

» Game Casters are online celebrities who inhabit unique pockets of YouTube — "pockets" may not sound large enough when the most popular of them has 38 million followers. To "cast game", as the activity is known, is for these people to play through a video game (say, Minecraft) accompanied by humorous, irreverent and sometimes swear-ridden commentary, and their whole subjective experiences are recorded and broadcast on YouTube channels for their fans to watch.
