» John Chung founded Mason & Smith, Singapore's first shoeshining and leather care bar, in 2013. He flies to Bangkok every three or four months to serve his local clientele who want to get a mirror shine on their favourite pairs. Now that his passion has developed from restoring vintage men's shoes to artisanal polish, Chung is taking the next step by learning the art of shoemaking with a Japanese shoemaker in Hong Kong.

In 2015, they launched Coralist Swimwear online. Its functional and fashionable pieces attract millennial beach bums who love to buy things with just a click. Now the online swimwear retailer has expanded into selected multi-label boutiques, enjoys receiving orders from all over the world, and can also boast to have over 15,000 followers on Facebook and 30,000 on Instagram.

» Chaiwat Sriwilard, 24, trained himself how to write calligraphy in February last year. In a year, he found himself teaching the art of hand lettering to over 100 students. The visual communication design graduate from Silpakorn University dedicates time from his busy creative job in an ad agency to practising the craft and sharing his calligraphy on his Typer Facebook page. Now Chaiwat is also sharing his perfect penmanship to Bangkok's wannabe calligraphers in intensive classes every weekend.

» A movie can change a person’s life. It was the 1988 romantic drama Cocktail that motivated Watcharapong Suriyaphan, then 17, to work behind the bar. Having attended the School of the Oriental Hotel Apprenticeship Programme particularly for the restaurant operations and bartending course, he has been passionately mixing and pouring drinks for patrons at a number of Bangkok’s top bars and gained hands-on experience from many masterclasses. Now the brand ambassador of Bacardi Thailand, the 28-year-old Watcharapong doesn’t only concoct drinks for work. He is an avid bar equipment collector and an alcohol history enthusiast.
