» Habitat for Humanity International has made the decision to separate from the national organization in Thailand – Habitat for Humanity Thailand, effective 16 October 2024. The two entities have parted ways and Habitat for Humanity Thailand will no longer be part of the Habitat for Humanity network and will stop all Habitat programs and fundraising.

» On May 22, 2014, a coup d'etat by the Royal Thai Armed Forces was declared. At that time, well-known film director Chulayarnnon Siriphol, director of Ten Years Thailand, who was reading and watching the news from traditional media -- newspaper and television -- realised that the media was not reporting on the real events that he saw on social media and the internet. It was at this time that it dawned on him that traditional media was under some control of the junta government.

» The constitution shepherded into place last year by the military regime seems at first glance to be clear about freedom of the press. Media "shall enjoy the liberty to report news or express opinion", it states in Section 35. That is even extended to every person, not just the media. It sounds good until you get well into Section 34, which contains that hugely limiting word "except".

» Police made poor decisions in suggesting they would charge the Samui Times website over the Koh Tao rape allegations, and in threatening other media as well. There are two reasons they are wrong. The first is that there is no "fake news" or false reporting involved. Secondly, the threat to bring criminal charges in this case will harm the country's image many times more than the reporting of the incident ever could.

» The first bilingual podcast on the Bangkok performing arts scene, Bangkok Offstage Podcast is hosted by two Thai theatre critics: Amitha Amranand and Kaewta Ketbungkan. The podcast deals with discussions, reviews and interviews of local and foreign artists who perform on the Bangkok stage. Amitha is a writer, translator and language and writing teacher. She has been a theatre critic for the Bangkok Post since 2006 and teaches journalistic writing at Chulalongkorn University. She is on the artistic committee of the Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting. Kaewta Ketbungkan is a writer, translator and content creator with strong knowledge in Thai cinema, theatre and culture from her nine-year experience in broadcast journalism. She has been an active member of the International Association of Theatre Critics — Thailand Center since 2016. Currently, she is developing her website www.annkaewta.com.
