The London-based pop trio -- Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith are known for their minimal and hypnotic sound, drawing in huge raves from critics with their first album XX (2009) and later on Coexist (2012). » 1. Good news for those who have yet to visit King Bhumibhol's crematorium at Sanam Luang. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has granted an extension of visitation until Dec 31, with hopes that those who live in the provinces will have an opportunity to witness the finest Thai craftsmanship on display. Besides the royal crematorium, there is also a comprehensive exhibition, which chronicles the life of King Rama IX, with topics ranging from his childhood to achievements in science, Buddhism and international relations. In smaller open-air pavilions, the art of creating the crematorium is displayed, with videos displaying the artists at work.

» Ever since he was a young prince accompanying his brother on royal duties until his final years residing in Siriraj Hospital, the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej was almost never seen without a camera in his hands. It is a rich paradox: one of the most photographed persons in the Kingdom was also an avid photographer who took tens of thousands of pictures of other people during this 70-year-reign. For years, the public has mainly seen photographs of the king holding a camera, but today, we are finally able to get a glimpse of what the monarch saw through his very own eyes.

» Hung on the 4th and 5th floors of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre are familiar photographs of Buddhist statues, stunning ancient pagodas, and people and monks absorbed in prayer. The photos, taken by veteran Italian photographer Andrea Pistolesi are highly dramatic -- sometimes overly so, with high dynamic range effects, high contrast, and interesting textures superimposed on top.

October marks the one-year anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol's passing, and in a gesture of dedication and remembrance, ChangChui creative hub in Thon Buri is holding a month-long programme called From Particles To Father's Universe, featuring numerous art exhibitions and talks on His Majesty and his works. Highlights include the Silence Of The Universe art exhibition, consisting of a collaboration of over 70 artists, talk sessions from PorLeawDee - The Creator, live music from Silpakorn University's Faculty of Music and tastings of nine favourite dishes of His Majesty. The programme will run from now until Oct 29, Tuesdays to Sundays (free on weekdays; 40 baht on the weekends), 11am-11pm at ChangChui. For more information visit their Facebook page.
