Angry factory worker stabs colleague

» A woman confessed to stabbing to death a fellow factory worker suspected of having burgled her room. The incident took place at the RT Transport Company in Banglamung. Nuanchawee Boonphrom, age 34, told police that she had murdered Kaesorn Sukpee, 44, in cold blood  after a furious argument about thefts. The dead woman was found with knife wounds amid pools of blood, but her bankbook and mobile phone had not been stolen. Police found no evidence that the dead woman had stolen Nuanchawee’s property. Investigations continue.

Mental health under threat

» City Hall hosted a public awareness event at Pattaya school number 11 to pinpoint the various threats to the health and well-being of today’s youngsters. Topics included poverty, aggression, family conflicts, alcohol and substance abuse, and physical disability. Lecturer Pongsak Tungkana said that education in school should supplement parental advice about the social problems affecting many children.

Elephant killed by rival

» Two male elephants at a Sattahip reserve fought after one broke loose from its chain and gored the other—thought to be a romantic rival in the mating game. The tusks were severed from the dead elephant, 68, before it was buried. His attacker, 30, was sedated and re-chained. He will be sold and relocated to Surin. No humans were injured during the fracas, though many staffers fled in terror.
