» Great to see the letter from Jan Servaes, especially as his position with Unesco had been communication for sustainable social change. As he very politely pointed out Thailand appears to have no respect for the institution of marriage especially if one partner happens to be a non-Thai. At a time when Immigration is often stating that visitors and stayers need to have the correct visa it seems that they themselves don't wish to supply you the pertinent document.

» The headline on the March 26 Sunday editorial, "Politicians must put public first", caught my eye. "The interruption gave the impression that some politicians are still self-serving, rather than serving both their voters and their country. This is unfortunate." It may indeed be unfortunate, but self-serving politicians are a Thai political reality, a way of life, and no amount of rhetoric, public or private, will ever bring this practice to an end.

» Most people will be aware of the phrase "old wine in new bottles" but maybe not know that it was coined from the phrase "new wine in old bottles" and stems from biblical times when it wasn't deemed to be a good idea to decant new wine into old leather storage satchels because the leather could be cracked and the possibility of leakage was likely to occur.
