Chillin' in the kitchen

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 20/08/2021

» For many of us, being stuck at home during the pandemic means a lot of free time to learn new skills whether it's art, gardening or cooking. For those that decide to spend their time in the kitchen to try and not be a complete noob at cooking, it may have been a funny and perhaps somewhat dangerous experience. Enter Selena + Chef, where Selena Gomez, known for her acting and music talents, takes on her little to non-existent kitchen skills. With the help of professional chefs Zooming in from all over, she gets a crash course on cooking. Guru speaks to Aaron Saidman, who developed the show and serves as one of the executive producers, and asked him what it was like producing a show early on in the pandemic and whether the possibility of Gomez cutting herself or burning her house down gave him a heart attack.

Must love dogs

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 19/10/2018

» The Bodhi Dog Rescue and Shelter in Phuket has been rescuing and treating dogs (and other animals, too) who have been mistreated, shunned and abandoned for six years. Running solely on donations, they've encountered heartbreaking circumstances, which makes us question if we really do treat dogs as "man's best friend". On the other hand, they've also had successful stories like that of a pup named Nor. On their sixth anniversary of Bodhi Dog Rescue and Shelter GURU caught up with Tina Maria, founder and owner.

Summer checklist

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 06/04/2018

» The blistering heat and scorching sun has made it evident that summer is upon us. The bad news is that it's likely to get hotter from here on. The good news is that the city is going to be an all-out water war zone in a few weeks. Aside from that, there are plenty of things to do during this summer. But if you're scatterbrained like us, can't organise yourself and will probably end up lounging on the couch eating a tub of ice cream (which is not a bad idea, actually), you can stop fretting. We've compiled a summer to-do list for you.
