» Under the unpredictable Bangkok sky in the late afternoon of last Saturday, I stopped by Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park) in Chatuchak district. Even though I haven't visited here for many years, while strolling around, I found this massive park still looks as beautiful as I remember. And despite the hazy skies and uncertainty of rain at any given time, I thought to myself that at least it's still better than being bored sitting on a couch watching a movie at home.

It showcases the impressive works of Germaine Krull, the late photographer, revolutionary and war journalist whose works are being shown to the Thai public for the first time at The Jim Thompson Art Center.

» Last Saturday saw many fans and film lovers from everywhere gather from morning to evening in front of Scala Theatre, Bangkok's last stand-alone cinema and the magnificent architectural icon of the Siam Square area. People stood in line for hours to buy advance tickets for the farewell programmes in the "La Scala" event organised in conjunction with the Thai Film Archive, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday before the movie theatre closes its doors for good after serving Thai cinemagoers for more than half-a-century.

» After closing its doors in RCA on Aug 31, the art-house cinema House Rama has found a new home as part of the launch of Samyan Mitrtown, the new mixed-use complex project developed by SET-listed Golden Land Property Development, located near the Sam Yan intersection, just 300m from MRT Sam Yan. The new cinema is set to open on Sept 20.
