The trade wars between the US and China have certainly contributed to this outcome. Since the US has stopped cooperating with China in a number of industries, the profitability of manufacturing in China has fallen. As the general living standard has also increased, labour is cheaply available elsewhere. This has motivated manufacturers to find cheaper destinations, such as Vietnam.
