» If you hadn't noticed, we're halfway through 2020 already. With everything that's happened the past six months, there's probably a lot of us dreading what the rest of the year holds. Remember when we were so happy in 2019 that a new year was around the corner? Things are looking up as we move forward. Restrictions have eased and events -- you know, those things were people get together and do stuff -- are being held again. This week, we've listed down a few that deserve a note in your calendar.

» It seems like not a month goes by without Thailand being recognised on a global scale. Recently, Bangkok beat Paris and London as the most visited city in the world for 2018, for the fourth consecutive year, according to a MasterCard ranking. Thailand's capital hosted 22 million overnight travellers. In the midst of the flattering and not-so-flattering world titles Thailand has received, you may not be aware of the times we receive recognition for rather peculiar feats. » Grandpa Thanit* went missing from home six months ago. Besides living with Alzheimer's, the resident of Prachuap Khiri Khan province -- who is believed to be 100 years old -- had a string of age-related health issues that impacted his ability to recognise friends and family. This made it more difficult for his family to locate him after he left home while family members were at work.

» There is no doubt Thailand's nightlife is booming with bars and drinks with unusual names and concoctions. And speaking of which, for every new bar that opens, there has to be a gimmick of some sort to attract bar patrons. Which brings us to this week's cover story for which we went around the city looking for bars with hard-to-spot entrances. After constantly getting lost and double checking Google Maps on our phones, we managed to list four hidden (well not-so-hidden now that we're writing about them) bars for the adventurous bar hoppers who would like to do a bit of effort in getting a drink. Half the fun is discovering them on your own so we included an elusive metre in terms of difficulty finding each tavern, as well as providing a few hints to help guide you on your way. Whether you have already discovered them (shush!) or in need of a change of setting and have a sense of exploration with friends, then Godspeed!
