» Looking around Impact Arena Hall during the 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) concert on Tuesday night, I felt like I was at an orientation for an international secondary school. A few of the teen audience even had their parents chaperoning them.

Now in 2015, the road that runs past the Old City, along the river all the way to Thanon Tok, has enjoyed an urban revival. Once home to expats, embassies, religious and ethnic communities and shophouses, the road and its many sois have now been enlivened by a younger vibe, from Maitri Chit Road near Yaowarat (Chinatown) to the galleries in mid-Charoen Krung.

» The Maroon 5 World Tour 2015 Live in Bangkok concert was sold out almost instantly after ticket sales opened (to be precise, it was three minutes). This was a sign guaranteeing that the gig would be packed with throngs of loyal fans, and that was exactly what I witnessed on Monday night at Impact Arena.

» The curtains are coming down on La Fête 2015, the annual Franco-Thai cultural co-operation festival, as it will be held for the 11th and final time from June 3-20. Next year, according to the Embassy of France, it's likely that shows and performances will be spread out all-year-round.
