The best he can Be

B Magazine, Kritini Upayokin, Published on 27/10/2013

» Close your eyes when listening to Peerapat "Be" Thenwong's rendition of a Marvin Gaye classic and you'll find it hard to believe the singer was born in Si Racha. Be has an unusual voice for a Thai male singer _ it has a deep, husky tone that calls to mind the soul-based Motown Sound. It comes as less of a surprise when you know Be counts Gaye, James Brown and Stevie Wonder as his favourite foreign artists.

A 'Sideways' look at Bangkok's bizarre and beautiful streets

B Magazine, Kritini Upayokin, Published on 24/03/2013

» Sideways is the name of a group of 11 photographers who spent a year gathering street life-inspired photos and are now showcasing their masterpieces in a new exhibition called "Street Inbox: Exhibition Photography By Sideways". The group drew inspiration from the Bangkok Street Photo workshop conducted by renowned photojournalist Vinai Dithajohn last year at the Thailand Creative and Design Centre at the Emporium. The exhibition opens on Friday and runs until April 30 at the Box Prop & Studio on Phichai Road. It features six photos from each of the 11 Sideways members as well as six photos by their mentor Vinai.

An offer he couldn't refuse

B Magazine, Kritini Upayokin, Published on 10/06/2012

» Krissada "Noi" Sukosol Clapp seems like the last guy you'd expect to see using a cleaver for purposes that have nothing whatsoever to do with cooking. Gangster he is not, at least not now, as we meet at Caffe Sonata, a retro-style coffee shop tucked away off Phra Athit Road, once a bustling centre of activity in old Bangkok _ illicit and otherwise. The shop is a throwback to years gone by, with vintage furniture and photos from Hollywood's golden age on the walls. You'd almost expect a Brylcreem-haired, Brando-attitude tough guy to walk in, demanding obeisance or else.
