Ethnic armies fight for a federal future

Oped, Larry Jagan, Published on 07/04/2021

» Myanmar's ethnic armies have effectively declared war on the country's military government, increasing the prospect of civil war. In the face of the army's continued violence against civilian protesters -- the death toll is now more than 600 in the last nine weeks -- many of the country's ethnic leaders felt impelled to take drastic action.

Headless chickens

Oped, Postbag, Published on 09/01/2021

» So, on Jan 8 we had the headline "Gov u-turns on Mor Chana" concerning the tracking device Mor Chana. And "Covid travel permit 'impractical'" concerning interprovincial travel documents. And with many other backtracking moves by those in power, it once again shows that decisions are made without thinking them through.

Not a republic fan

Oped, Postbag, Published on 17/12/2020

» I am sorry that Wason thinks I have fallen for a conservative ploy regarding Thailand becoming a republic. Far from it. Perhaps I did not make myself clear. My last sentence clearly states that to achieve the protester aims they should stick to reform. That includes the lese majeste law surely. Nothing to do with becoming a republic.
