» The atmosphere at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) has been more captivating than usual since it started running two parallel art exhibitions. "Lingering Reverie" and "Sufficient (Perfection)" both began last month as part of the launch of the university's School of Digital Arts and Design.

» The first time Thailand was bitten by the rap/hip-hop bug was way back in the mid-90s, when the then unknown Joey Boy introduced the sound and singlehandedly dominated the genre with a slew of hits ranging from Fun, Fun, Fun to Samakom Ta Chan Diew and Loy Talay. Despite being a playful, largely pop-oriented rapper, there's no denying that he was the one who paved the way for daring trailblazers like Fukking Hero, Buddha Bless and Thaitanium.

» In Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse, Willem Dafoe is a demented Poseidon, or perhaps a crazed, ocean-battered ex-sailor on the run from a Melville novel. Playing one of the two lighthouse keepers on a wind-whipped rocky islet in the Atlantic, circa 1890s, Dafoe turns up his mad-uncle mode, feral hair, chronic farting and drawling speech, plus a possessive relationship with the lantern -- the source of light atop the lighthouse (he refers to it as a "she").

» To raise awareness on alternative energy, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) has joined hands with the Office of Energy Regulatory Commission to demonstrate lighting installations in the "Jaras Light Fest", which uses solar cells as its energy sources. Located on the 1st and 3rd floors of the BACC, the 11 installations and artworks by four invited artists and eight open-call artists have impressed visitors with a variety of designs and multicoloured lights. The solar panels of artworks have stored energy from the Sun during daytime. As a result, the exhibition is illuminated at night. Before creating their works, artists received a crash course in how solar cells work, so they had ideas on how to apply solar energy to their artworks.

In 2017, a New York-based Thai artist, Kantapon Metheekul, better known as Gongkan, created Teleport Art, his iconic character in a black circle as a door to instantaneous travel anywhere. Since many people can relate to the unique character, who represents freedom to travel, Teleport Art has broken through into the New York street-art scene.
