Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 18/03/2026

» Replacing your divots is a must and probably the first etiquette rule that we learn. If the divot has disintegrated then try to find a container of soil/sand and simply fill in the divot.

One wrong move, two strokes gone

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 31/12/2025

» Giving or asking for advice like "What club did you use?" from anyone except your caddie or playing partner results in a penalty of two strokes in stroke play or loss of hole in match play. Unsolicited advice from strangers or spectators is okay, but the player must not encourage it.

Keep your chin up, save your sanity and your swing

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 14/05/2025

» To keep checking your posture and distance from the ball is important, so don't get complacent. The way you stand to the ball dictates how you swing the club, so getting the correct posture governs the distance you'll be standing from the ball. To do this, simply hold out the club in front of you, with the butt of the club pointing into your belly button. Lock your arms and knees. Then, retaining the angle in the hands, bend from the waist until the club head touches the ground.

Perfect your pivot and master the swing motion

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 26/03/2025

» Working tirelessly on a good setup is an investment for future consistent shots. A good stance to the ball starts a chain reaction of good movements throughout the swing. If you're wrong at the start then required adjustment movements will be required to manipulate the club, or your body, in order to get the club back on track. So, pay particular attention to standing to the ball correctly as this is where good shots start.

Perfect your stance in 4 easy steps

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 12/03/2025

» Standing correctly to the ball is obviously extremely important for consistency and there's a four-step exercise that will help you to do just that. Firstly, standing upright, hold the club directly out in front of you. Then flex your knees until, when looking down, you can see half of your feet. Carry on the exercise by dropping your arms without bending forward, and then lastly, bend from your hips and stick your bottom out slightly. When the club touches the ground, Hey Presto, you will be in the perfect position from which to start a good swing.

How mental barriers affect a player's game

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 06/11/2024

» The psychological area that comes with the game of golf is hugely underestimated. If you don't think hard about how your brain is working, as you are walking around the course it is important, think of all the players who used to play great yet couldn't even hit a cow's backside with a cricket bat.

The crucial role of foot positioning

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 15/05/2024

» To start any golf swing a forward press of some sort is required to start the action. Naturally we don't start many movements from a dead start. Your hands, hips, shoulders and legs will rock forward a little bit to help the reaction that gives the momentum needed for the backswing. This initiates the turn and the shift of the weight to the right foot; your hands will follow your turn into the backswing and your left heel will rise.

Priority should always be downswing not backswing

» If you don't play well today, don't worry about it.

Exercising can help improve a golfer's swing, overall game

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 01/01/2023

» I freely admit that my generation of professional golfers didn't really think that physical fitness was important in getting the ball around in a good score.

Do not rush your swings

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 25/12/2022

» It is easy to rush a golf swing as we are all trying to hit the ball a significant distance, especially if you are standing on the tee with others watching, so it is only natural to swing as hard and fast as possible.
