Master the takeaway like Billy

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 21/05/2025

» Over the years of teaching many women golfers, I've found that they are unaware of the important positions they should be in during the different stages of their golf swings. One of these positions is when the golf club is at waist height, just after takeaway. And Billy Horschel is a player to watch here, as he has incorporated this position in his pre-shot routine.

Master patience or watch your golf game fall apart

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 23/04/2025

» Anybody who has ever picked up a club and tried to make a swipe at a golf ball has quickly realised the importance of patience in the game of golf. Whilst recognising this -- you're able to monitor your feelings and understand the natural results of failing to keep calm after hitting a terrible shot. All golfers learn quickly that patience is essential if you wish to play golf reasonably well. You cannot rush patience on the golf course, rather like bringing up a baby who's totally helpless and dependent on you, patience is learnt and is a vital requisite.

Perfect your pivot and master the swing motion

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 26/03/2025

» Working tirelessly on a good setup is an investment for future consistent shots. A good stance to the ball starts a chain reaction of good movements throughout the swing. If you're wrong at the start then required adjustment movements will be required to manipulate the club, or your body, in order to get the club back on track. So, pay particular attention to standing to the ball correctly as this is where good shots start.

» Let's start the New Year off with something very basic 'Putting' -- as whether we like it or not for the average golfer, half of golf is putting. Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 20/11/2024

» From the feedback received it seems like the psychological side of the game is perhaps the most important area of golf that requires a golfer's full understanding. As previously explained, if you arrive at the 1st tee without possessing the 3 C's --Confidence, Competence & Capability, you'll be just praying for a good score.

Master your left-hand placement

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 30/10/2024

» When you place your left hand on the club you should have the feeling that your thumb is more or less on the top of the shaft. Whilst looking down you should see two knuckles on the back of your hand, the crease formed between the first knuckle on the index finger and the thumb, should be pointing to your right ear.

Keeping your swing simple the way to go

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 02/08/2020

» It has been said that the first 12-inch drawback away from the ball is the most important part of the golf swing. If you can master taking the club back correctly for the first foot of the back swing without picking the club up, rotating your forearms, taking the club too far to the inside and all these other swing killers, you can become very competent and develop power and consistency over the golf ball. But then again there are a few more inches to go through before the swing has finished!

Maintain equilibrium or get ready to eat humble pie

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 16/02/2020

» The question of 'how far away from the ball should I be' is one I hear almost every day. The expression that I like to use is 'measuring off'.

Focus on good mechanics

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 15/09/2019

» The primary reason golfers fail to work hard on mechanics is because, every now and again, it all comes together and they hit the ball great.

Strive to finish in perfect balance

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 15/07/2018

» The proposed US$10 million match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson managed to 'push my buttons' and I'm only hoping that they are playing for their own money or everything goes to charity -- let's see.
