» There's a little test you can do to ensure that when you set up over the ball everything is in the right place. See if you can rock backwards and forwards when addressing the ball, if you can, then your weight is correctly distributed. If you can only move your toes, then too much weight is on your heels. The reverse is also true. If you can only lift your heels your weight is too far forward.

» When at the top of our swings our shoulders should be tilted from the top, not level as l see sometimes. Most golfers want to hit the ball long, and tilting your shoulders as we turn them will help tremendously. Shift your hips towards your target on your downswing so that your tailbone finishes up closer to the target. But your head should not get closer to the target or go too far over the back foot.

» I like to see an early wrist cock, but l hesitate, when coaching, to overstate this movement with my students because so many become so entranced with getting their wrists cocked that they forget the rest of the swing. Concentrating just on the wrist cock will mess up other important movements.
