Scandal needs closer watch

News, Editorial, Published on 03/12/2018

» It has been a year since Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon showed off his diamonds and a costly watch too ostentatiously to miss. It occurred at Government House as ministers gathered for a portrait-photoshoot of the "Prayut 5" cabinet. » The decades of rot and wrongdoing are starting to emerge at the Ministry of Education. Dozens of cases of greed and conspiracies to defraud children and the nation have been exposed. Up until now, the minister, his bureaucrats and the government have been silent or even engaged in cover-ups.

Minister flunks test

News, Editorial, Published on 23/06/2018

» Education Minister Teerakiat Jareonsettasin has been barking up the wrong tree. In making his recent demands to the organiser of the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa), the minister seemed more anxious about the rankings of Thai students in the eyes of the world than their actual academic improvement.
