Footpath chaos

Oped, Postbag, Published on 14/11/2025

» Re: "Public safety No.1," (Editorial, Oct 22). I am also a pedestrian and walk regularly. It is good for taking care of my health, especially my heart condition. To some extent, Thailand's walking paths are obviously good for citizens.

OPINION

Blighted regime

Oped, Postbag, Published on 04/01/2022

» Re: "Card holders can now use any hospital", (BP, Jan 3). Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's characterisation of his ministry's new policy of allowing cardholders to access any hospital as a "New Year's gift" to cardholders is illustrative of one of Thai society's most toxically dysfunctional structural elements: namely the largely unchallenged acceptance in Thailand that a major role of government in a democratic polity should be to dole out largesse to its citizen-supplicants.

OPINION

No business sense

News, Postbag, Published on 16/02/2019

» The paper constantly tries to address the increase in income inequality with relation to farmers yet nobody applies “business sense” to the situation.

OPINION

Noisy riders are relevant

News, Postbag, Published on 07/10/2018

» Re: "Summary execution", (PostBag, Oct 6). Unfortunately, my letter was cruelly edited to the point that it made little sense. In my original, I included photographs in support, and said that although a (very weak) argument could be made for motorcycles riding on the footpath against the flow of traffic, none can be made for those that ride on the footpath with the flow of traffic.

OPINION

Windows for dummies

Oped, Postbag, Published on 06/10/2018

» While many people love higher tech, forever upgrading and updating their computer programs, (and mobile phones), did it ever occur to Bill Gates and Microsoft that there are those of us who do not need all the availability of continual upgrades?

OPINION

Trying to do right thing

News, Postbag, Published on 30/08/2018

» I read the Aug 28 editorial, "Injustice on display", about the arrest of Myanmar volunteer teachers with sadness.
