» The haze is already upon us, but where does it come from? In Chiang Mai, most point to forest fires, but as the valleys fill with haze with not a forest fire in sight, there must be another source. What is that? Small farmers burning their corn field waste before the burning ban arrives.

» The recent tragic gas explosion reveals a serious issue with the government. The investigation and probe of the incident should not be left to the perpetrator of the explosion. We do not allow the person who caused a traffic accident that resulted in death to be the same party that investigates the collision to determine responsibility. So why does PTT get to investigate itself?

» In a country often said to have dual prices there is nowhere with such a great difference as in the theatre of political protest and the price to be paid for making your statement. Ms Nuttaa Mahattana, Pai Dao Din, and others have all come under extreme pressure, had visits from soldiers, spent time in detention and found their futures threatened. Some would say that's the price they must pay for their dissent.
