» Happy squeals and laughter from almost 50 young children filled a cosy village hall on a recent Sunday morning in Wiang Kaen district, Chiang Rai. They were pointing at a man dressed comically in a green crocodile costume panicking over his missing teeth. Outside, the weather was 14C. The children sported colourful jackets, some with Moo Deng printed on them.

» A young gymnast reached out her hands and grabbed a bar. With the aid of an instructor, she swung herself a few times to gain momentum before finally doing a handstand. She held that position for a while before swinging down and coming back to the ground. All around the large open space, children were engaged in various artistic gymnastic pursuits. From swinging on the uneven bars to skipping on a balance beam or leaping over a vault.

» It is less than a week until the much-anticipated general election. For the first time in the history of Thailand, we are seeing a huge turnout of LGBTI candidates from different professions and backgrounds, jumping on the political bandwagon and representing sexual diversity. Out and proud, many of them are standing as candidates or are working with political parties in order to make their voices heard.
