Like teen spirit

» Parkpoom Wongpoom had a hand in one of the best-known Thai horror stories of all time. In 2004, Parkpoom (with his friend and co-director Banjong Pisanthanakun) scored a phenomenon with Shutter, a ghost film about a begrudging female spirit that hounds the men who've wronged her, which went on to become a huge hit around the world (eventually spawning an insipid Hollywood remake).

LIFE

A zeal for New Zealand

» The sky was gorgeous. That was the first thing I noticed about New Zealand after we left Auckland airport. Just the right shade of blue. The right amount of sunlight and cloud. Underneath the vast blue expanse, rolling green hills stretched as far as the eye could see. We were on our way to Rotorua, a city 230km southeast of Auckland, and luckily we were able to appreciate all the surrounding nature that led us to it. Plenty of sleep onboard Thai Airways' Royal Silk Class meant we landed feeling refreshed, ready to explore all the sights and adventures Rotorua has to offer.

No, this is not the 26th watch — or would that be the 100th? — in Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwon’s I-borrow-them-from-my-dead-friends saga. Nor is it the 300 million-baht loan to ex-police chief Somyot Poompunmuang. This time, a man has been caught with his fingerprints on a rifle, sitting in a forest next to protected wildlife carcasses.
