Typically, games will have you defeat six to eight gym leaders, who act as bosses of each town, before beating the last boss to prove your supremacy. But this time, in 2022, there are no gyms, because this latest game is a prequel to all others and no gyms have been established, and the game's townspeople still have very little knowledge about these mysterious monsters.
