» Twenty years young and emerging as an even more sophisticated and inspiring go-to could be one way to describe the current incarnation of Siam Paragon. Extensive renovations that began in early 2024 have transformed the luxury mall into an even more glossy Mecca for high-end brands. But the retail epicentre is also trying to make a visitor's experience better by adding an arena of art that shows pieces by internationally-acclaimed artists from around the world. "We are the pride of Bangkok, and we are moving towards becoming established on the world stage," says Salawit Suviporn, executive vice president, Head of Think Tank at Siam Piwat. "Following Siam Paragon's 'luxury for all' initiative, we understand that everyone's [definition of] luxury is different, so we must cater to every group, age and sex. Art is one thing that binds everything together. The public spaces will showcase art to create wonderful experiences for visitors."

» The thing about the Sretsis fashion brand is that they are not only lauded for their clothes but also for magnificent retail spaces that make a trip to their stores a dreamy visit to the galaxy of Victorian fairy tales, among other fanciful backdrops. As the brand's universe has creatively widened in the past few years, the name has grown to encompass food and beverage (a fine tea parlour), home décor (wallpaper with fantastical beasts) and dining ware (ceramic unicorn candle holders). Earlier this month, the three Sukhahuta sisters unveiled a home -- completely fashioned in the Sretsis style -- for anyone who wants to live in the whimsical flair the brand is so well known for.

» When House of Fritz Hansen in Soi Somkid first came to life in 2017, the white house from the 1950s it inhabited was polished into a showroom to display how luxury Danish furniture pieces could fit into a Thai home. The global pandemic of Covid-19 meant that the official launch to introduce the brand would have to be postponed, while importing was also met with delays due to hindered cargo transportation. Within the first few seconds of stepping into the new Missoni store which has just opened at Central Embassy, she is quick to catch the discord within the flagship's ambience: the distasteful black tape holding down speaker wires, a hat on a stand angled at a disagreeable position and this writer's purposely mismatched earrings.
