» Earlier this week, a French Muay Thai champ went viral not for his killer moves but for his tattoo of the Thai word for Thai boxing spelled wrong. Instead of มวยไทย (muay Thai) being inked on his arm, his tattooist mistakenly inked ฆวยไทย.

» Have you been back to the cinema as yet? As I'm browsing through movies for my first flick to celebrate multiplexes reopening (I went with Shang-Chi because duh!), I can't help but notice the difference between Thai posters of Hollywood movies today compared to those from bygone years. While Thai posters of blockbusters today stay faithful by transliterating its English title with Thai letters and translating its subtitle almost verbatim (eg Shang-Chi With Mysterious Legends of Ten Rings), the vintage counterparts are more-is-more and over explained. Not only do they feature different designs that are re-created by talented Thai artists along with Thai titles that have nothing to do with the original titles but also spew several visual spoilers. » Theerachat "Tom" Potisit is a freelance photographer who's behind many iconic images that went viral in recent years. On top of countless fashion shoots, you may have already seen his work, which stimulates conversation on relevant social issues without knowing the man. In 2014, he saw an opportunity to raise awareness on marine life conservation when a Bryde's whale beached in Samut Prakarn and staged a fashion shoot there. Remember the "Anatomy 101" exhibition at Chulalongkorn Hospital in 2015? It was a photo exhibition where Tom and Surachai "Pui" Saengsuwan, a noted fashion photographer, took beautiful, haunting pictures of models and celebs in a hospital setting to raise awareness on organ donation. Most recently, he organised "Know-R", a photography exhibition to highlight livelihood of communities along the Chao Phraya River. It was staged on an old rice barge in February. Tom has also earned a reputation as a photographer/conservationist for his contribution to raising awareness on endangered species over the years. Guru spoke with this fascinating photographer whose works combine art, fashion and raising awareness.
