Salt, sea and spoonbills

» During a morning stroll through vast salt fields in the seaside town of Samut Sakhon, I couldn't resist but take breathtaking photos of a large flock of birds. Close by, experienced birdwatcher Suchart Daengpayon (also known as Mr Tee) led a small group of foreign tourists on a trip to see the food-seeking behaviours of the spoon-billed sandpiper, an endangered shorebird species.
A town full of history

» It felt as if my eyes and skin were on fire while walking down the new 150m-long skywalk in the sweltering midday sun. It was due to my late arrival in Kanchanaburi, but I decided to stick to my original plan. At least I was rewarded with stunning views of the confluence of the Khwae Yai, Khwae Noi and Mae Klong rivers, set against a backdrop of lush hilly environment and old city walls.

» When the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) held a mass rally against former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra in 2014, WTF Gallery & Cafe hosted the "Conflicted Visions" exhibition and questioned if people could coexist despite different ideologies. A few weeks after the show ended, a coup took place and today Thais still live in a polarised society.
Moda's starry nights

» With the famous paintings The Potato Eaters, Sunflowers and The Starry Night, the Museum of Digital Art Bangkok Gallery (Moda) is taking a crowd of art lovers back to the late 19th century when Dutch post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh discovered his talent through the new digital multimedia exhibition "Van Gogh. Life And Art".

» After almost 10 years of hard work and continuous study of the life cycle of hepatitis C, the effort has paid off with German virologist Dr Ralf F.W. Bartenschlager being selected as a 2019 Prince Mahidol Award laureate in the field of medicine, while British Prof Dr David Mabey has received the award in the field of public health services for his research on trachoma -- a common eye infection leading to blindness.
