» In the afternoon sun, a fleet of four exquisite royal barges -- Suphannahong, Narayana Song Suban King Rama IX, Anantanagaraj and Anekajatbhujonga -- are moored at the Thonburi Naval Dockyard as 240 oarsmen train in preparation for the Royal Kathin (robe offering) ritual scheduled to take place in October.

» After intermittent rain, the cluster of nimbus finally dispersed and we decided to stick to our plan to see a sunset over the Andaman Sea. The Khao To Ngai Fault Plane, also known as the Time Travel Zone, is one of the greatest places to take in the splendour of nature, but the sky was not clear when we arrived.

» After a one-hour journey from Bangkok to the southern town of Trang, the pilot announced we were landing, but our plane took off again a few minutes later. I looked out the window and spotted rain clouds forming over the airport and runway. Due to poor visibility, the pilot opted to return to Bangkok before changing his mind and landing temporarily in Krabi.

» As Bangkok blows its birthday candles today, many historical sites including the Grand Palace, Bangkok National Museum, Santi Chai Prakan Park, City Pillar Shrine, Wat Bowon Niwet Vihara and Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre have transformed into fun entertainment venues for the "240th Anniversary of the Foundation of Rattanakosin", running until Sunday.

» On a sunny day, I spent about 50 minutes riding the Airport Rail Link and taking advantage of the extension of the MRT Purple Line to travel from Bangkok's eastern suburb to the old town of Nonthaburi in the northwest.
