» A car travels down a long peaceful road with lush green paddy fields on each side that will soon be superseded by crops of cassava, corn and sugar cane during the off-season. This scene reminds us of Prince Damrong Rajanubhab's 1904 journey to Phetchabun, when he discovered the ancient town of Si Thep which was recorded in a late Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin document.

» While standing inside the recently opened Ayutthaya Gold Treasure Exhibition Building at the Chao Sam Phraya National Museum, visitors may picture a gloomy night in September 1957 when robbers robbed the vault that was hidden beneath Wat Ratchaburana's main Phra Prang. When digging further, they discovered a glowing three-floor gold treasure and relocated some priceless items to a house opposite the temple.

» The gentle winds cooled the summer heat as I sat on the bank of the Nakhon Chai Si River, taking in a beautiful view of the waterside hamlet and lush landscapes of the small town of Sam Phran in Nakhon Pathom province. It's only a 90-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Bangkok in order to breathe in some fresh air on the weekend.

» The Tourism Authority of Thailand recently launched the Himmapan Project using five cute cartoon characters of mythical creatures based on Buddhist and Hindu beliefs to boost domestic tourism. This inspired me to grab a camera and scour for other imaginary animals from the Himmapan forest, which is a bridge connecting Earth and heaven.
