» Ruswadee Sa-i stopped going to school after completing lower secondary education at 15. However, he was considered too young to get a job, so for the next three years, he ended up hanging out with friends and helped his mum with household chores. Then, a knock on his door changed the course of his life. It was a youth worker who had come across his mum and worried about her son's limbo.

» Her family is made up of two mothers and a daughter. Matcha Phorn-In believes that homophobia fuelled a villager to set a fire near her home in San Kamphaeng in 2016. It occurred several times and although she reported these incidents to the police, they did not take any action because damage did not result in loss of life or property. Hence, they decided to move out and live downtown for safety.

Pandemic parenting

» Phannakan Sreetheamsak recalled feeling lonely as an only child and decided she would have two of her own so they could keep each other company. She gave birth to the first child three years ago. Her second pregnancy occurred during the very difficult time of Covid-19. She took pains to avoid risks until the baby opened its eyes in March. Her relatives and friends were not allowed to visit them in hospital -- a departure from the traditional large family gathering.
