» After two years of temporary closure for restoration, Ban Plainern, the residence of the late Prince Narisaranuvattiwongse -- the Great Craftsman of Siam -- is today reopened for a special occasion. Every year, the Naris Foundation and the Chitrabongs family celebrate Naris Day, the prince's birthday, by opening up the residence in Bangkok's Klong Toey district to distinguished guests on April 28 and to the public all day on April 29.

» Armed with her Leica camera and fixed lens, HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the youngest daughter of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, woke up before sunrise -- at 5am -- and rode a jeep and hot-air balloon in search of the Big Five game animals of Kenya that are hardest to shoot on foot. In tough weather conditions, dusty and humid, she captured moments in the savannahs through still and motion pictures while illustrating her quest in her personal sketchbook. She worked until twilight shed the best lighting. At night, she rested in a tent with no phone signal. This happened every day throughout her five-day journey in Kenya in May 2018.

» After three decades of preparation and rehearsal, it is finally a dream come true for National Artist Chakrabhand Posayakrit and his students to bring hun krabok, or Thai rod puppets, to life in the Taleng Phai performance in their own theatre at the almost-completed Chakrabhand Posayakrit Museum in Bangkok's Sai Mai district.
Cities of silk and elephants

» Surin, a northeastern province, is home to the largest number of domesticated elephants in Thailand and hosts the "Surin Elephant Round-Up" every third week of November. Nonetheless, tourists can expect things other than the annual elephant festival, particularly on the newly introduced route called BuRin, abbreviated from Buri Ram and Surin. The route, being promoted by the Department of Tourism under a homestay-standardisation project, emphasises the local ways of life related to elephant-raising, silk-weaving, basketry and cultural diversity.
Blossoming Chiang Mai
