A photographer princess

» Armed with her Leica camera and fixed lens, HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the youngest daughter of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, woke up before sunrise -- at 5am -- and rode a jeep and hot-air balloon in search of the Big Five game animals of Kenya that are hardest to shoot on foot. In tough weather conditions, dusty and humid, she captured moments in the savannahs through still and motion pictures while illustrating her quest in her personal sketchbook. She worked until twilight shed the best lighting. At night, she rested in a tent with no phone signal. This happened every day throughout her five-day journey in Kenya in May 2018.

A farewell to a memorable palace

» To bid farewell to Bang Khun Phrom Palace before its closure, hundreds of Thais queued and waited eagerly for one last visit to the handsome palace every Saturday morning throughout last month. The palace was once home to Marshal-Admiral Prince Paribatra Sukhumbhand of Nagor Svarga (1881-1944), and later served as a public museum under the supervision of the Bank of Thailand.

» Nakhon Nayok has long been a popular destination for day trippers due to its proximity to Bangkok. Waterfalls remain all-time favourite attractions among tourists. Yet, there have been some changes. The sight of many teenagers and low-quality tourists talking and singing loudly and heavily drinking is no longer common due to stricter regulations, including a ban on alcohol in the national parks like Khao Yai. Another change -- many more tourists opt for going to farms and reservoirs to enjoy stunning views, cycling amid nature and visiting temples to seek spiritual solace.

» Time flies. Things change and more people around me leave this world year after year. Since the start of the New Year, I have been feeling down because birthday reminders and "Like" notifications have been popping up on the Facebook and Instagram pages of my deceased friends. Though some of these "friends" were just co-workers, and some others distant relatives who had never met me in person, I felt uncomfortable with such untimely reminders.
