» Among the many things that we've lost during this pandemic, the ability to get on a plane on a whim and fancy has been the biggest. If you've ever been to Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the past months to just walk around with a trolley to remind yourself what it feels like waiting for your flight (no? just me then?), then you'll know that the airport is a shadow of its former self. Even if you did manage to book a flight, it involves so much paperwork and costs so much, coupled with the fear of catching the virus, it's not worth it unless in an emergency.

» If you have no idea what surfskating is, I don't blame you. I didn't really know much about it until I did this story, but there's a good chance you've seen someone riding it or carrying it around the city. These boards, which are shaped slightly different from skateboards, may perhaps be brushed off by a noob like me as a different form of skateboard but there's a little more to it than that. Whatever the case, the surfskate craze has for some reason descended upon the Land of Smiles and has tickled almost everyone's fancy. If you're someone who's looking to get into it or just someone who wants to figure out what the heck is going on, read on. Perhaps by the end of this, you'll find yourself wanting to surfskate yourself.

That might be great news for some, but for others who are sick of the same desk, same chair and same four walls, fear not. The thing is, it comes with a price, and the price can be a little bit steep. » Now that we're able to go out and about again, watching a film about a house haunted by secrets and a mysterious ghost shouldn't be too bad, right? The Maid is the first Thai-produced Netflix horror film that was released a week ago, starring Teerapat Sajakul and Sawika "Pinky" Chaiyadech. Though the film seems like a straightforward horror story featuring a baby-faced and naive main character, a mysterious rich couple and a terrifying ghost out for blood, it quickly gives you a bunch of twists to keep you on the edge of your seat, as well as a couple of jump scares, all achieved with the help of terrifying visuals and bone-chilling sound design. Guru spoke to Lee Thongkham, the film's director and writer, and Traithep Wongpaiboon, who was the sound post-production supervisor, about the film and what role sound plays in getting audiences scared.
