Saving the best for last

» After spending a couple of late morning hours exploring Photharam on my foldable e-bicycle, I found myself on an islet on the Mae Klong River that runs past the west side of the business district of this old town in Ratchaburi province. The seafood phad kaphrao and rice I had bought for breakfast but didn't have time to eat still looked tempting. With the cool tree shade, the refreshing river breeze and the tranquil natural surrounding, it was a splendid lunch.

The property has 406 rooms. The Dream rooms on the west side of the 18-storey building, like the one I stayed in, come with a sea view. I recommend you pay a little more for one of these rooms rather than the Sleep rooms on the city-view side.

» If Covid-19 had not struck the planet, we would be enjoying humanity's most celebrated sporting event by now -- the Summer Olympics. This year's Olympics has been postponed and rescheduled to take place between July 23 and Aug 8 next year, leading many to now refer to it as Tokyo 2020+1. Anyway, thinking about the Olympics takes my thoughts back to Atlanta 1996.
