LIFE

Pretty vacant

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 23/01/2026

» As far as cop thrillers go, The Rip checks a lot of familiar boxes. It's gritty, it's propulsive -- at least in theory -- and it clearly wants to position itself as a throwback to those older, morally murky crime dramas about corrupt cops and fractured loyalties.

LIFE

Not one for the pups

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 23/08/2025

» If you're constantly flicking through your streaming library looking for a new animated cartoon to watch while feeding your toddler breakfast, don't let the cutesy puppy images of Netflix's newest animated movie Fixed fool you. The content you are about to unleash over the next hour-and-a-half is nothing like the adorable and family-friendly content its posters suggest.

LIFE

A modern twist to an iconic manga

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 03/05/2024

» For those old enough to remember, City Hunter was a manga sensation that captivated readers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This detective story, known for its blend of action, quirky comedy and elements tailored to adolescent boys, became a cultural sensation. Even if you haven't seen it, chances are you've encountered one of its numerous adaptations over the years, whether it be the 1990s Hong Kong rendition starring Jackie Chan, a 2011 Korean TV series, or even the French film Nicky Larson Et Le Parfum De Cupidon (2018).

LIFE

A bloody tale of power games

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 15/03/2024

» At first glance, it's easy to describe the new historical miniseries Shogun as Game Of Thrones meets The Last Samurai. The show's premise is an Englishman who finds himself in the middle of a fight for supremacy in feudal Japan. However, the 10-episode series is more than that as it blends elements of political intrigue, cultural clash and warfare in a gripping narrative. Produced by FX Productions and based on James Clavell's acclaimed 1975 novel, the series transports viewers to Japan in the year 1600.

LIFE

Passion play

» I was a little hesitant before going into Pistol, a music biographical drama miniseries, as I wasn't that convinced how the filmmaker is ever going to pull off such a story. The Sex Pistols was no doubt an important group in rock music history, having so much influence on the 70s UK punk movement as well as DIY and indie rock music a few decades later. However, their career was rather short, lasting a little over two years. Most of the news while they were active was rather negative with coverage focused more on scandals caused by the band members' behaviour than the actual music.

LIFE

A week without inhibitions

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 10/09/2021

» We have all met people on vacation that became friends we partied with once and then lost touch afterwards. But what would happen if you became friends with crazy people and they followed you back to your wedding? Well, that's what happens in Vacation Friends, a raw and raunchy comedy that was just released on Disney+ Hotstar this week.

LIFE

Altar-native reality

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 17/04/2020

» There are plenty of romantic comedy movies that use a gimmick to make themselves more appealing apart from the love story. Events that take place in a single day is one of those popular gimmicks with a story that often gets pretty strange and wild as the plot unfolds, and which is sometimes incredibly effective. Though other times, not quite.

LIFE

The power of surprise

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 26/07/2019

» 'What should we do dad. Do you have any plans?" the son asked his father. "The plan is no plan at all. When you plan, life never works out that way."
