» Remember that Netflix documentary last year called The Program: Cons, Cults, And Kidnapping? It exposed the horrors young people endure through parent-sanctioned abductions to so-called academies designed to "fix" wayward kids. That documentary left many of us shaken with its raw look into an industry that preys on fear and promises false solutions.

» Despite the controversies surrounding Joker (2019) upon release, I found many things to admire about the film. Whether it was the ambitious storytelling, the refreshing take on an iconic DC character, or the homage it paid to Martin Scorsese's classics like Taxi Driver (1976) and The King Of Comedy (1982), there was a lot to appreciate. However, when I heard they were making a sequel to what was supposed to be a standalone film, I had a bad feeling. Now that I've seen Joker: Folie À Deux, I can't say my opinion has changed.

Night Shyamalan had managed to surprise us all once again by revealing that the film's scary villain and the multi-personality serial killer Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy) actually exists in the same universe as David Dunn (Bruce Willis), a main character in Unbreakable (2000), one of Shyamalan's most successful films and often regarded as one of the best superhero films ever made.
