» It has been four years since Netflix released the Fear Street trilogy -- three interconnected slasher films that mixed 80s nostalgia, supernatural lore and time-hopping ambition. The movies came out during a period when anything evoking retro aesthetics, especially the 1980s, like Stranger Things, practically guaranteed success. Though far from perfect, the original Fear Street trilogy had its own pulpy charm, especially in the way it linked three different time periods together into one cohesive and mysterious narrative.

» I usually have a soft spot for Scandinavian thrillers. Oftentimes, they're so unique and interesting that Hollywood ends up remaking them -- like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009) or The Hunt (2012). There's a kind of slow-burning tension and cold realism to them that you don't always get in American shows. However, while that's usually the case, I have to say that The Glass Dome, the new six-episode Netflix series, doesn't quite measure up -- even though it has potential.

» It's quite common to see movies that deal with food and the art of cooking becoming targets for criticism. It's not that difficult for this type of movie to quickly attract the attention of the audience, because hardly anyone would say no to the beautiful, yummy looking dishes in films. But at the same time, it will be easily criticised by both movie and foodie snobs. Despite being currently among the most watched movies on Netflix, the hit drama-thriller Hunger has also divided audiences and critics.

At the event were many celebrated international artists, including MONO, Last Dinosaurs, DIIV, Fazerdaze, Mild High Club, Dry Cleaning, A Place to Bury Strangers, Tokyo Shoegazer and more who checked in to perform at the two-day outdoor festival.
The possible upsides to Covid infection

» There's always a first time for everyone. After three years of living life virus free, I got Covid-19 from a friend after attending a concert recently. However, to my surprise, my first experience wasn't all that terrible. I felt mildly ill, with fever and body aches, but no sore throat or a lung infection. Fortunately, I was able to look after myself at home and the symptoms only lasted a week.
