» Organised by Thai Beverage Plc, the art competition White Elephant Award returns with an exhibition with the theme "Biodiversity". Among numerous artworks, two art pieces, Land Of Life (wooden block) by Teerapon Phopaesri and Diversity Within Dominated Condition (a sculpture made from lead, steel, paper mache and resin) by Chaiyan Ninlabon won the White Elephant Prize and the Grand Prize, respectively.

» The use of school uniforms has been an ongoing debate as many universities in Thailand still have rules requiring students to wear them. In response, students have initiated campaigns requesting uniforms be made non-compulsory.

» Sherbet is a transgender woman who studied sports science and wanted to be a personal trainer. However, she faced difficulties due to her sexual identity and her university lecturer worried that if she dressed up as a woman, she would be discriminated against. When looking for an internship, she learned that a famous fitness centre did not accept transgender women. She then applied to be an intern at the international organisation Virgin Active which has a gender equality policy. After training at Virgin Active for three months, she became a personal trainer and has never faced any gender equality issues there.

» Thailand was reported last month as having dropped in English-proficiency rankings for a third year in a row. The ranking is conducted annually by EF Education First, a Switzerland-based company specialising in language training and cultural exchange.
