Prehistoric pride

» Piriya Vachajitpan, the founder of Museum Pier, has been interested in dinosaur fossils and prehistoric animals since he was a high school student in the US. Piriya saved money from his part-time job as a dishwasher in the school cafeteria to travel to view dinosaur exhibitions and fairs in many American cities. It was an eye-opening experience which encouraged him to collect fossils.

» When Rose Bannaros worked with artist Luck Maisalee, she noticed that many of his pieces were inspired by female figures and icons. Impressed by this, Rose aimed to display this particular aspect of Luck's work. However, she was concerned that presenting work from a single artist could lead to a narrow perspective, so to provide diverse perspectives of women, Rose collaborated with three other female artists -- Kaewtrakarn Junlabon, Parichat Suphaphan and Marisa Srijunpleang.

» After Chinese artist Meiying graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she returned to Beijing and felt everything had changed. This change inspired her to create the character Hyde -- a child who likes to hide in clothes and observe the world silently.

» Kornpat Kotchabhakdi used to be an atheist who refused to go to a temple with his parents who are Buddhists. When he became a lifestyle editor of a magazine, he became frustrated due to personal and work issues. To reduce pressure, he tried meditation and to do so properly, Kornpat sought advice from monks who led him to take an interest in amulets and Buddhism.

» When Thanapat Termsintawee was a third-year student at the School of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University, he conducted a thesis which compared human society to ant colonies. Working on the thesis led him to keep ants and develop a familiarity with the insects.

» Tanat Suvanabhat, better known as Naipran, is an artist with autism. During Covid, he wanted to travel abroad but couldn't so he expressed his desire through paintings and drawings. He drew planes, airports and landscapes of cities he wanted to visit, especially London and New York.
Beyond the Buddha

» As a traveller and photographer, Kamthorn Paowattanasuk enjoys visiting temples. While most people like to take photos at famous spots or with well-known sculptures, Kamthorn is interested in temple structures repaired using substitute materials. For example, what used to be a sermon hall made from wood was replaced with cement because wood is too expensive. In another temple, wooden handrails in an ordination hall and the temple gates were replaced with alloy.
A whirlwind tour of Bali

» Since Bali is renowned for its beautiful beaches, upon arriving, our group, consisting of BWH Hotels executives and media representatives, headed straight to view the picturesque sunset at Jimbaran Beach. The beach was scenic with crystal-clear seawater and silky sand. In addition to people strolling along the shore, I observed two cute puppies tirelessly scampering back and forth from the beach to the sea. After capturing many photos of the sunset, we had dinner at a restaurant called Melati Bali, located right by the beach. The seafood was fresh and delectable. The coconut water was bit disappointing because in spite of its impressive size, it was very bland.

» In Indonesia, Bali is a major tourist destination for Thais. However, during my three-day and two-night visit to Jakarta organised by BWH Hotels, I discovered the charms of Indonesia's capital. Jakarta is similar to Bangkok in terms of city vibes and heavy traffic, but Jakarta has more shade and trees than the City of Angels.
