» In 2024, artist Kan Nathiwutthikun, better known as Kan Nathi, experienced living among smoke from wildfires since her house was located near Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai. After the wildfires were extinguished, Kan asked her assistant to go with her to collect ashes and burnt wood to create artwork. Some of those artworks are now on display at the exhibition "Blueprint of the Apocalypse" at VS Gallery.

» For several months, PM2.5 dust has exceeded 50 microgrammes per cubic metre (µg/m³) in many provinces in Thailand, which is considered unsafe. In some areas, such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son, PM2.5 levels have reached over 500µg/m³. While some people are aware of the dangers of PM2.5 pollution, others do not take it seriously.
Phayao art festival enlivens its old market

» In order to offer a creative space for people in Phayao, the "Phayao Arts & Creative Festival" was launched in early August and will run until Oct 3. A collaboration of the Creative Economy Agency, Pye Space Contemporary and Phayao New Generation Creator Network, the festival is hosting programmes throughout the province. But the festival's main area, "Ar(t)cade", is located on the second floor of the old market in Phayao. It features art exhibitions, alternative movie screenings, and family and learning activities.

The girl is a character in the paintings Alone1 and Alone2 from the Covid-19 pandemic-inspired collection "Linetopia" by Apiwat Bunler. Periods of stay-at-home and self-isolation had a strong impact on independent artist Apiwat, who also bartends in his own bar, Barley, where he meets many people.

» Growing up in an impoverished neighbourhood could have had a negative impact on photographer Phichai "Eak" Keawvichit, who once worked as a motorcycle taxi driver. However, instead of getting into any trouble or being led the wrong way, young Phichai preferred to spend time in his room or play with his siblings in the house.

» Amid the air pollution crisis and the coronavirus pandemic, artist Terdtanwa Kanama depicts surgical masks as a new necessity, especially in one of his paintings titled Scramble where he drew an angel donning a mask while crying. Adding his voice is Arunsak Paopuree, whose painting Rainy Day takes viewers back to a time before the novel coronavirus outbreak and the PM2.5 conundrum. Arunsak's collection tells stories of a serene life in countryside surrounded with an abundance of beautiful nature.
