Art for biodiversity

» Organised by Thai Beverage Plc, the art competition White Elephant Award returns with an exhibition with the theme "Biodiversity". Among numerous artworks, two art pieces, Land Of Life (wooden block) by Teerapon Phopaesri and Diversity Within Dominated Condition (a sculpture made from lead, steel, paper mache and resin) by Chaiyan Ninlabon won the White Elephant Prize and the Grand Prize, respectively.
No longer the bridesmaid

» Some 3,000kg of baby's breath flowers decorated a wedding reception under the concept of "The Flower Nebula". After the reception, Chayawat Panjaphakdee, better known as "Joe Rainforest", the managing director of Rainforest Thailand and Rakdok, did not want to trash the flowers. When Seacon Square Srinakarin asked him to design a flower event for the MUNx2 zone, dubbed an "artibition", or an area for an art exhibition, he came up with the idea of a floral show titled "Imaginative Cloud" and reused the baby's breath flowers from the wedding to design displays in eight locations.
Hitting is never the answer

» Physical punishment, especially hitting children, seems to be normal for many Thai parents. On a popular webboard in Thailand, a post in 2021 asked readers when was the last time they were hit by parents. Readers shared their experiences, with some saying they were hit during primary school or junior high school days. The creator of the post wrote that her last memory of being hit by her father was when she was 20. Her father hit her very hard with a stick and cursed at her because he wanted her to do a household chore, but she did not immediately obey him. She said she just wanted to finish a cupcake before doing the chore. On the same webboard, many people also posted their experiences of corporal punishment from parents.
