» Assoc Prof Supreedee Rittironk has had a special interest in bamboo, so he decided to research the plant during his PhD in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the US. After returning to Thailand, he became a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University, Rangsit Center. In 2010, he launched an elective class called Bamboo Studio for fourth-year students.

» Assoc Prof Sukumarl Sarakasetrin, ceramist and lecturer at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University, took an interest in mochaware -- a type of household pottery first produced in the UK -- having been struck by its complex patterns resembling those seen on agate.

» Last week, an ongoing exhibition "Ni Tas Sa Kee" or "Free Pads For All" was launched at The Pheu Thai Party's headquarters on New Phetchaburi Road. On view until March 31, "Free Pads For All", which distributes free sanitary pads to women, is a pilot project that Pheu Thai wants to push for the government to make policy.
