» It has been a while since Thailand hosted a music festival that featured K-pop, Chinese and Thai artists. However, that is set to change as on Nov 2 and 3, China Travel Service (CTS) and Tencent Music Entertainment together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand will organise the Wannaland Music Festival.

» Last week, exiled Thai activist Wanchalearm Satsaksit, who was living in Phnom Penh was reportedly abducted. In 2014, the 37-year-old Thai political refugee had refused a military summons and in 2017, he was accused of violating the Computer Crimes Act. In an interview with the press, Maj Gen Burin Thongprapai said Wanchalearm wasn't facing lese-majeste charges. Regardless, news of his abduction has caused an uproar on social media. Most people (on Twitter) think that someone who has a different opinion than the junta government should not be made to disappear. Yet, some people also commented that there was no evidence to prove that the state was involved in his abduction while others went as far as to believe the abduction was fake news.

Following the ensuing uproar, the singer publicly apologised in tears, admitting she'd made a mistake, and had been ignorant of what the image symbolised.

» This year's Maya International Music Festival, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, will move from Pattaya to Bangkok's Oasis Arena, Show DC, with a capacity of 50,000 people. No longer just an EDM festival, the event has added more K-pop and J-pop acts to present diverse music. The long lineup includes world-famous DJs -- Alesso, Porter Robinson, Markus Schulz, Major Lazer Soundsystem and Galanti -- as well as singers from top K-pop groups -- Girls' Generation's Hyo, Exo-CBX, Super Junior D&E -- and a J-pop group -- the sister group of BNK48, AKB48. The British electronic pop duo Oh Wonder will also perform at Maya.
